The category, simplified

What private cellular actually is, in three sentences.

Private cellular is your own miniature cell tower. It uses CBRS — a band of radio spectrum the FCC opened in 2020 for shared private use, no license required. You get the same connectivity the big carriers sell, on hardware you control, with SIMs you issue.

CBRS spectrum — shared, not licensed

The 3.5 GHz band is coordinated by a Spectrum Access System (SAS) so deployments don't interfere. We handle the SAS registration. You don't apply for a license.

4G LTE today on a 5G-native core

ECHO ships as private 4G LTE — the hardware is cheaper, the device ecosystem is wider, and the use cases match. Our core is already 5G-native, so when you need real 5G NR (ECHO Enterprise 5GC), the upgrade is a radio swap, not a forklift.

Who is ECHO Private Wireless?
ECHO Private Wireless is the private cellular product brand from BATS Wireless. We've been deploying wireless infrastructure for over a decade. ECHO is our line of productized private LTE/5G networks — turnkey, opinionated, priced for operators who'd rather build than wait.
What's the catch with the $500 launch price?
It's $500/month for the first 50 launch partners, locked at that rate for the lifetime of your service — not for a promotional window, not for the first year. The catch is that we're only opening 50 slots. After that, the rate is $1,500/month, which is still well below comparable private cellular offers from Celona, Nokia DAC, or Ericsson Private 5G. Currently 27 of 50 slots are still available.
Why are you doing this?
Two reasons. One: we want a working cohort of real deployments across the verticals listed above, so we can prove the offer with case studies. Two: the price the incumbents charge for this technology has held the category back. We can deliver private cellular for an order of magnitude less than the legacy vendors quote, and we'd rather have 50 happy operators talking about it than 5 enterprise accounts paying inflated rates.
Is this CBRS? Do I need a license?
Yes, ECHO uses CBRS spectrum (3.5 GHz Band 48). No FCC license is required — we use General Authorized Access (GAA), the unlicensed tier coordinated by a Spectrum Access System. We register and manage the SAS for you.
What's ECHO FLEX vs whatever else?
ECHO FLEX is our first SKU. It's a single-sector outdoor private 4G LTE network sized for one site — one yard, one warehouse, one farm, one campground. Up to 50 devices per AP, 10 SIMs included. Runs on a 5G-native core, so the radios can be upgraded to 5G NR via ECHO Enterprise 5GC if your application needs it. Future SKUs will cover multi-site deployments, indoor-only environments, and edge-compute-bundled configurations.
